Wilson has strengthened the upper hoop of this racket to produce a more robust and responsive hitting surface in addition to upgrading it with a 16x20 string arrangement. Similar to the first generation of Clash rackets, Wilson's cutting-edge frame technology—originally dubbed FreeFlex—defines the 98 v2. The racket can bend (and lessen impact) along a larger geometry of stroke routes, including the vertical mechanics of the modern game, thanks to proprietary frame technology that was renamed FORTYFIVE.
